Fluted granite earrings with hematite.

The fluted granite earrings have a beautiful surface texture made by forging the silver against carefully selected rocks out in the Cornish landscape. These are ancient metal working skills which I really enjoy using under an open sky in some of the most beautiful landscapes in the UK.

I have long been drawn to standing stones, their place in the landscape and their physical beauty. These earrings connect this inspiration that runs through my work to the finger print of deep time that the stone surface leaves in the silver as I work.

I spend time running my eye and my fingers over the surfaces of rocks to find the exact texture I want to give me beautiful surface detail. Each stone I choose leaves a different mark. Quartz seams appear as shining ring lines and mottle granite has pockets marks where minerals have worn free.
