Precious Collective, Pistachios and Chicago

Our first exhibition in the USA!

This week sees the beginning of a very exciting exhibition at Pistachios Gallery in Chicago. Precious Collective is an international community of jewellers bound together by the ambiguous definition of what ‘precious’ actually is in relation to jewellery. Pistachios is a prestigious contemporary art jewellery gallery in the heart of Chicago with a long reputation for excellence.

The exhibition is curated by Precious and Pistachios and this image shows, clockwise, myself at the top, Juan Riusech, Lynne Speake (founder of Precious) and Francesca Cecamore. Below are 3 pieces of my work incorporating found treasures exploring the title ‘Things Unsaid’.

Things Unsaid

The title of the exhibition is ‘Things Unsaid’ and we were asked to make new work around this theme. I chose to interpret this through my Talisman collection which explores the names of endangered species. By etching the names of wildlife into silver, I hope to raise awareness of these diminishing lives and open conversations about how humans have impacted the non human world and what we can individually do to help.

Scientific research shows that when we know the names of things, we are more likely to care for them so this human connection to nature is a very important one.

If non human species names go unsaid, we will loose them, the ability to recognise them and they will become ghosts in the human history. Things unsaid. Beings unsaid.

Talisman Sealife brooch with Peruvian Blue Opal.

Incorporating a Peruvian Blue Opal in this pieces makes it one of my favourites from the collection. The text in the back of the piece is printed onto paper from a previous etching and shows the names in reverse. symbolising my hope for the reversal of species decline. The Peruvian Opal and the boat like form of the pieces all speak of the sea.

The show will be travelling closer to home next year as it goes on display at Munich Jewellery week 2026. If you happen to be in Chicago or Munich, I hope you get to see it.

Precious Collective, Pistachios and Chicago and Munich! Exciting times for my small pieces of jewellery.
