Over time, your jewellery will start to reflect the way you live and take on signs of the identity of the owner. With wear, the finish will change, texture will alter and shine will become patinated. I have written some simple steps to help you with cleaning and caring for your jewellery.

Silver - Gently clean with a silver polishing cloth or a toothbrush and weak solution of washing up liquid. With very textured surfaces like reticulation, bicarb soda can be used with hot water and a toothbrush to get into the harder to reach places. Rinse well with warm water and dry with a soft cloth. Silver will stay at its best when it is worn regularly. A good eco alternative is to place your silver items (no stones) in a bowl with foil and bicarb soda. Pour boiling water over the contents and leave to soak for a few minutes. Remove from the solution and wash under clean running water before drying on a soft cloth.

Oxidised - Oxidisation will wear over time and start to revert to its natural silver finish. Be careful to avoid scratching or rubbing the jewellery with abrasive surfaces as this will damage the finish. Wash in warm water and dry with a soft cloth. If you need the oxidisation reapplying, please get in touch.

Gold - It is easy to keep gold looking good as it doesn't tarnish easily. A weak solution of washing up soap in warm water can be used to soak your jewellery, leave for 10-20 minutes then use a soft bristled brush to remove any excess grime. Rinse in luke warm water and dry on a soft cloth. You can also use a gold polishing cloth to gently shine your jewellery.

Gemstones: It is a good idea to occasionally check the settings on your rings. If the stone seems wobbly, stop wearing it and get in touch. I will endeavour to make it secure again.
